Bifenthrin provides broad-spectrum control of chewing and sucking insects including beetles, caterpillars, ants, and termites. It's used in crops, turf, and structural pest management due to its long residual activity.
As a pyrethroid (Group 3A), it disrupts insect nervous systems by prolonging sodium channel activation. This causes rapid paralysis (knockdown) and death, with both contact and stomach poison action.
Multiple formulations include EC, WP, SC, and granular products for different applications - foliar sprays, soil treatments, and termite barriers. Microencapsulated versions offer extended release.
Bifenthrin is UV-stable and rainfast within 2 hours, providing good field persistence. However, efficacy decreases at temperatures below 15°C due to reduced insect activity.
Toxic to aquatic life - maintain 15-30m buffer zones near water. Wear chemical-resistant gloves during handling. Reentry intervals vary from 12-48 hours depending on formulation and crop.
